Episode 8 | Using Pantone's Colour of the year 2024 in your flower designs - Peach Fuzz

Last week Pantone released their colour of the year 2024 which is Peach Fuzz and today's episode is about how you can make use of it in your work in the coming year.

This year's colour is Peach Fuzz and it's a soft warm peachy colour and the reason that Pantone are saying they picked this colour is because it embodies warmth  and action. On their website Pantone says it captures our desire to nurture ourselves and others. It's a velvety gentle peachtone whose all embracing spirit enriches mind, body and soul.

And from the executive director Leatice Eiseman - “in seeking a hue that echoes our innate yearning for closeness and connection, we choose a colour with warmth and modern elegance. A shade that resonates with compassion, offers a tactile embrace and effortlessly bridges the youthful with the timeless.’

So I'm going to break down how you can use this colour in your flowers and designs in various fun ways.
________________________________________________

I really love this colour. It’s very warm, it's soft, it's delicate, it's friendly, and it's gentle and it compliments so many other colours in the colour wheel. It will work so well on its own or it can work with other colours within the colour wheel to spark different emotions.  So how can we use this colour when creating our flower designs? I’m going to explore  various options that you can explore in 2024.

Monochromatic Elegance:

In this design you could create a stunning monochromatic arrangement using different peach hues. This creates a harmonious and elegant look, perfect for weddings and formal events. I would use various shades of peach flowers like Peach Roses like gorgeous large headed Avalanche Peach or Spray Roses called Peach Yo-Yo, Apricot Lisianthus, Peach Dahlias - Cafe au Lait  or Peaches and Cream are both stunning. Another option is peach Ranunculus and they are a favourite for their stunning petals which are in-between of a rose and a peony and their organically curved stems And they are available all year round.

Pastel Harmony:

In this design you could blend peach flowers with other pastel shades for a soft and romantic arrangement. This combination exudes a gentle and dreamy atmosphere and in  my opinion would work beautifully for spring or summer occasions. Some of the flowers I would use here would be Verena Pink Hydrangeas, delicate Queen Annes Lace, waxflower harmony brings in a delicate pink hue and Astilbe which is available in a really soft pink or ivory shades and yellow or apricot Matthiola also you can use white avalanche or Athena Rose which has a hint of green to them and the Ecuadorian Playa Blanca rose with its large white heads and even the white ohara rose which has the a very delicate pink tinge to them. And oh my god the pink Majolica rose is a spray rose that is so beautiful and delicate. You could use peach hypericum in your designs adding a small pearl like effect to your designs. And if you are looking for line shaped flowers you could use lilac delphiniums and these will really help to extend the size of your design and create so much movement and drama.

Contrast with Bold Accents:

With contrasting designs you could combine peach with bold deep coloured flowers.  This will add drama to the arrangements making them really stand out and catch attention.   You can pair the peach flowers with deep purple Calla Lilies, purple wax flower, Lisianthius - I love Piccolo Violet which is a deep purple colour,  You could even use pink Tacazzi which is very deep fuschia pink or Pink Floyd which is a large headed columbian rose.  Textured Garden Style: Here I would embrace different textures by incorporating ruffled and delicate blooms in peach tones to really give a romantic and whimsical feel for a very natural and organic look.  I’d love to use a mix of peach roses and spray roses with peach Snapdragons and white Astilbe and even white Queen Annes Lace.

Tropical Vibes: Creating a tropical-style flower arrangement with peach flowers like Leucospermum, also known as pin cushions, can bring a unique and vibrant touch to your designs. In this design I would use lush large waxy foliages like Monstera leaves and Palm fronds and pair Peach Leucospermum  with Heliconia Red Ginger, Birds of Paradise and Green Grand Slam Anthuriums to create a very bold  and striking look. Also another vibrant contrast would be to use turquoise. This you can incorporate with the use of vases and vessels or even dyed Asparagus fern and will complete this tropical look.

That's a wrap! Remember to consider the overall theme and atmosphere you want to create with your flower designs. Whether it's a wedding, a special event, or simply to add warmth to a space, Peach Fuzz can work a delight for any setting  in 2024.
